Mission - To grant wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses in Hong Kong and Macau, thereby enriching their lives with hope, strength and joy.
Make-A-Wish® Hong Kong was founded in 1989. It was registered as a non-profit charity organisation in Hong Kong in 1998 and became a member of Make-A-Wish® International, which has its headquarters in the USA. Make-A-Wish® Hong Kong was set up to grant one special wish each to children in Hong Kong and Macau* who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
By doing so, we hope to bring them joy and hope, and create wonderful memories for them and their families. Wish Children (Children who apply for wishes) can request for a small gift, like a little toy, to bigger things, such as travelling abroad. Wishes for children to meet with their favourite idols or celebrities are also popular. With the excitement of having their dream realised, many children became more joyful and are more optimistic in fighting their illnesses.
Make-A-Wish® is the largest wish-granting charity in the world, 6,382 wishes were granted to children across the world in 2007 by 31 international affiliates.
Meanwhile, Make-A-Wish® Hong Kong celebrated our 10th anniversary in 2008 and grants a wish to the 1000th Wish Child in 2009.
We will strive to reach as many as children in need in the future and let them experience the joy of wishes coming true.
